IQ.wikiformerly Everipedia, has the ambition to disrupt blockchain and cryptocurrency knowledge through open collaboration and the wiki-based editing process.

Although Wikipedia is among the top ten most visited websites and a go-to source of information, recent times have revealed a flurry of criticism, including lack of methodical fact-checking, subjective standards of notability, and political bias.

Additionally, the site’s bias extends to cryptocurrencies, with publishers keen to censor anything and everything related to digital assets on the platform.

To redress the balance and bring an objective wiki experience, IQ.wiki was created to bring quality informational content on digital assets across all categories, including NFTs, DeFi, Layer 1s, and more.

CryptoSlate spoke with IQ.wiki Community Manager Navin Vethanayagam to find out more.

There is a real need for IQ.wiki.

Addressing the aforementioned issues, Vethanayagam said that IQ.wiki started as Everipedia and was a direct response to creating “a more inclusive encyclopedia”.

He mentioned that as early as 2014 the team had seen what was happening on Wikipedia. In particular, how its notoriety standard was used to discriminate, censor and remove newsworthy pages.

Initially, the plans were to directly compete with Wikipedia to match the breadth of its content topics. But the team quickly realized that this strategy was proving difficult in terms of scaling up operations.

“At the time the site was still focused on this general goal of covering everything, an alternative to Wikipedia. But what we’ve seen is that it’s not the best way to scale and focus .
