A popular adage says that the path to success is not a straight line. Sometimes this leads to various detours along the way, like learning how to develop airplanes, being a writer, keeping tabs on Bitcoin (BTC) and explore the blockchain space.

In a Cointelegraph interview, Ahmet Usta shared his journey from being fascinated with technology since childhood to becoming the founder of several successful Web3 projects focused on blockchain games and non-fungible tokens (NFT).

Usta studied Aerospace Engineering at Istanbul Technical University in Turkey mainly due to his passion for technology. Subsequently, he pursued a career in information technology and worked for various companies. Ten years later, Usta found himself in a strange situation. He said:

“By a strange coincidence, I found myself as a technology writer and editor. I wrote about technology for Bloomberg Businessweek Turkey and various other publications.

Then came Bitcoin, capturing Usta’s attention as he “kept a close eye on it”. Attracted to the technology behind cryptocurrency, Usta co-authored Turkey’s first book on blockchain, then pursued gigs as a blockchain specialist, giving speeches, seminars and training company staff. on the subject.

In 2021, the entrepreneur worked on a blockchain game project that incorporated NFTs. After finding success, he handed the project over to his partner to focus on a longer-term venture called ELYT, which recently raised new funds to connect brands and influencers to Web3 technology.

When asked why he thinks it’s important for brands to use Web3 technologies such as NFTs, Usta said NFT technology is more than an application. It’s a new way of thinking. He explained that:

“Innovation starts to sprout as soon as you can start thinking in this new way. The rest is just a technical and business problem. The key is to be able to create real business models from a new perspective.

The executive also said that the possibilities in terms of NFT use cases are only limited by people’s imaginations. “The monkey visuals and game assets are nothing more than a tiny snowball rolling over the visible iceberg above the water,” he said.

Usta thinks Web3 offers many opportunities. According to him, Bitcoin, Ethereum, NFT and decentralized finance (DeFi) all have their role to play in the world. He explained that:

“Bitcoin enabled record keeping without the need for a centralized structure. For the first time in human history, this enabled a decentralized trust protocol. With smart contracts, Ethereum transformed the flows of corporate work.”

Entrepreneur Web3 also mentioned that NFTs limit the ownership of digital assets that could otherwise be replicated indefinitely and believes the space will uncover various other applications. Meanwhile, Usta also underlined his confidence that DeFi will play a vital role in the future of finance.
